London Lightning Strike Purple
March 23, 2022 (LONDON, ON) - The London Lightning Basketball team is partnering with the London Abused Women’s Centre for the annual ‘Purple Game’ in support of the Shine the Light on Woman Abuse campaign. The event was created by the two organizations to raise awareness on the issue of men’s violence against women and the two organizations have partnered on this effort since the inception of the London Lightning basketball team in 2011.
On Sunday, March 27 at 2:00pm the London Lightning will take on the Windsor Express, donning purple jerseys in support of the London Abused Women’s Centre. Fans will have a chance to bid on the custom made, player signed jerseys during the game. All proceeds will go to front-line services for abused women and girls in our community. The London Lightning will also host a special opening ceremony in support of the event and the London Abused Women’s Centre will be in attendance offering information and the opportunity to purchase some fundraising items throughout the afternoon.
Basketball loving fans are encouraged to wear purple to show their support of the ‘Purple Game’ game, which aims to raise much needed awareness and dialogue on the issue of woman abuse and its impact on society.
